E-2 Teacher Visa Guide
Phone Plans in Korea for E-2 Foreign Teachers
EPIK, hagwon, and university teachers on an E-2 visa are among the largest groups of native English speakers in Korea. Most arrive without a Korean phone and need a postpaid line activated as soon as their ARC arrives — usually 2 to 3 weeks after entry. KT Market Global is the official KT-authorized agency that handles this transition in English: prepaid SIM on day one, conversion to a real KT postpaid plan with iPhone or Galaxy once ARC is issued.
Why E-2 teachers choose KT Market Global
- • KT-funded subsidies plus our partner discount on every line.
- • Installment up to 24 months on the latest iPhone and Galaxy.
- • English-only flow over KakaoTalk and WhatsApp — no translator needed.
- • Pre-check eligibility before activation, with no deposit and no surprise contracts.
- • Number portability from your prepaid SIM, so you keep the number you already shared with your school.
From arrival to activation in 4 steps
- Day 0–3 — Start a prepaid KT SIM with your passport so you have data while ARC processes.
- Day 14–21 — Receive your ARC at the immigration office.
- Same day — Run our English eligibility checker and pick an iPhone or Galaxy.
- 1–3 days later — Phone activated and shipped to your apartment or school.
Frequently asked questions
Can E-2 visa teachers get a KT postpaid plan from day one?
Yes. Once your ARC is issued (usually 2–3 weeks after arrival), E-2 visa holders qualify for KT postpaid plans and full installment up to 24 months on iPhone, Galaxy, and Z series. Before ARC issuance, a short-term prepaid SIM bridges the gap.
What if I have not received my ARC yet?
You can start a prepaid KT SIM with your passport and visa stamp, then convert to a postpaid plan once your ARC is in hand. We help E-2 teachers manage this transition without losing the same number.
Do EPIK teachers have any special discount?
KT does not run a separate EPIK-only plan, but our partner subsidy stacks on top of the standard KT promotion. Many EPIK teachers end up paying significantly less than buying directly at a KT store, especially on iPhone.
My E-2 contract is one year. Can I still get a 24-month installment?
Eligibility depends on your visa expiry date and credit conditions. We pre-check installment eligibility in English before you submit, so there are no surprises after activation.
What happens to my phone when my E-2 contract ends?
If you renew your contract, the line continues. If you leave Korea, you can either cancel (we walk you through KT cancellation in English) or transfer the line to another foreigner who is eligible.
